Okay! We finally figured out all of the kinks! The AdopTeen Committee application is up and working properly now!
A link to the application is now on the sidebar and will lead you to the online form that you can fill out and submit straight to our database. Easy as pie. :)
If you already downloaded/submitted the PDF application, that still works as well. Several people were running into issues with submitting the PDF, so the online form is a nice and convenient way around those issues.
Some frequently asked questions:
How do I sign the application if I am typing it?
Typing in your full name in the signature space is acceptable as an electronic signature on your application.
If I don't live in Colorado, can I still serve on the committee?
Yes. The majority of our committee communication will be through email and phone. We will try to limit the number or actual physical meetings until the conference week draws nearer. We realize the commute to and from Denver is very difficult for many of the teens, and definitely impossible for out-of-stators. Basically, everyone is invited to apply. So go and apply already!
Love,
Us.

Just want to remind you all that the deadline for the AdopTeen Committee applications is drawing ever so near. There are only two weeks left till February 12, 2010 so if you are having trouble deciding on whether or not you want to apply and if it's a good idea, then boy did you come to the right place!
The answer to that ever-lingering question is a BIG and enthusiastically fervent Yes! :)
Come on. We promise we don't bite. That's you mixing us up with Edward Cullen. Or whoever the cool vampire is these days...
Much Love. We look forward to reading all your applications!
2/5/10
Only 1 week left until AdopTeen Committee Apps are due!!! To all you procrastinators out there, may I suggest that you start considering looking at the application in the very near future...and then maybe start tentatively typing in your name...and then maybe see how you're feeling after that. If you haven't fainted by then, it's a good sign that you should continue filling out the rest of the cute, inviting and, dare I say, perfectly sized text boxes.
Just sayin'...we're fun people. Please don't be intimidated by our extremely good looks Wii Tennis abilities.
Happy Super Bowl Weekend kids!! Let's go Manchester United!!!
Oh. It's the other football. Right. Let's go Colts! Let's go Saints! Let's make it a double-OT, history-making, epic showdown! WOOOOHOOOOO!!!
xx
Amy.

Thank you to all of the teens who applied to be on the AdopTeen Committee! Applications were due last night by midnight.
For the teens who applied; An email will be coming your way by the end of this week with the, shall we say, "verdict". (I realize that "verdict" sounds ominous. Please picture a whole bunch of little puppies and baby chicks clamboring on top of the word, frolicking among fields of flowers. It's going to be more like that.) ;)
We're rooting for all of you. I promise.
Happy Chinese New Year! It's officially the Year of the Tiger.
Happy Valentine's Day, as well!
From our hearts to yours,
Amy (and Art)

News!
As it has been very busy on our end of things, we have decided to keep the AdopTeen Committee applications up and open for one more week to give anyone who wants to help out with this year's Conference but didn't get a chance to apply some more time to consider it. :) The extended deadline is now February 26, 2010.
We want to make sure that this year's Adopteen Conference is the best and the biggest yet and we need your help to make that happen. So apply!
For the teens that dutifully got their applications in by February 12, thank you so much, again. Emails are still on their way so hang on to your seat cushions. There were so many great applications and we are super excited to start planning this summer with all of you!

Sweet! Applications are all in, printed out, and ready for review! THANK YOU so much for your patience. I realize what an annoyingly long wait it has been for some of you and I apologize.
By Thursday of this coming week (March 4th), all you super awesome applicants will have received a lovely email from both Art and myself that will let you know if you made it onto the 2010 AdopTeen Committee! I know that I have said this before, but this time it is for realzz.
In other news, keep checking back with us! March marks the official beginnings of planning for this summer's Adopteen Conference! News concerning registration fees, host family registration/requests, and, of course, the newest AdopTeen Committee members will be popping up this month. You won't want to miss out on any of the fun.
I hope you all aren't as stressed in need of haircuts as we are. ;)
Always,
Amy (and Art)

We have a new AdopTeen Committee 2010 page up now! Finally! I know!
Now you can check out our 2010 Teen Committee members to learn a little more about them if you feel so inclined. Exciting, yes?
What is the AdopTeen Commitee, you ask? They're the kids who are helping Art and me plan the whole Conference! All the exciting camp activites stuff and all the boring behind-the-scenes logistic stuff. You know, THEM. So go check them out! :)
Host family registration should be opened up pretty soon for any families living in CO who are willing to host one or more out-of-state Camp-Conference attendees. More news coming soon!
We are still working on putting out a tentative program schedule for this year's Conference. I will be back here to announce it soon enough.
Happy Thursday!

Back again to address some questions that have been coming up in multiplets! : )
- Registration for the 2010 Adopteen Camp-Conference is now fully and definately 100% open.
- Adopteens ages 13-19 are all welcome to attend the camp-conference!
- The 2010 Adopteen Camp-Conference is a four-day camp starting the morning of July 29, 2010 and ending the afternoon of August 1, 2010.
- The registration fee for the entire camp-conference is $110 per attendee.
- There are many host families who live near the conference facility who would be more than happy to host your teen(s) if you are attending from out-of-state or if the commute is inconvenient. Please email amy@chinaadopteen.org or art@chinaadopteen.org for more information.
- An hour-by-hour program schedule for the 2010 Adopteen Camp-Conference will be put up in two weeks' time.
- The AdopTeen Committee is a small group of Adopteens who help us plan the activities and events of the Adopteen Camp-Conference. Adopteens who have attended the conference before had the opportunity to apply to be on this committee earlier this year. Please visit here to meet this year's AdopTeen Committee.
- The general email "adopteen@chinesechildren.org" no longer exists. Please email any questions/concerns to amy@chinaadopteen.org or art@chinaadopteen.org instead. Thank you!
That should do it... ; )
Any questions we left unanswered? You know where to find us!

Oh yes. If you haven’t started already, we highly suggest you start getting
excited. We’ve got SO many surprises up our sleeves, it’s almost ridiculous. And
these surprises are worth the mystery.
As a sidenote, we will both be a bit unreachable until
June 16th. After June 16th, we are all yours.

Hello hello!
Now that Art and I are officially back in Colorado, I am happy to say that this expanded Twitter (tweeter?) will be much more active from now until the start of the 2010 Adopteen Camp-Conference! (*cough*registration deadline is July 1st*cough*)
On that note, I would like to remind all you out-of-staters reading this that the 2010 Adopteen Camp-Conference registration fee of $110/adopteen covers all accommodations, local transportation, and the majority of your camper's meals for the entire four-day extravaganza. All that is not covered is your flight ticket/road-trip gas and whatever personal spending cash you want to bring!
Conclusion? Get ready for the BEST and most affordable camp you will ever participate in! :D Seriously. We like to live on the wild side.
In other news, the registration deadline for Adopteen Camp-Conference 2010 is July 1st! Which is coming up real fast. So, if you are reading this and still have not registered for this summer's four-day EXTRAVAGANZA, please stop laughing and go register! ...after you finish reading this.
Art and I, along with your lovely and adorable and amazing AdopTeen Committee are working real hard to make this year's Camp-Conference something incredible. You really don't want to miss out.
Now go register!
Love,
Amy

We're staying busy over here. Only about two and a half days lefts to register for Adopteen 2010 until the July 1st dealine so if you haven't registered yet, please do so before it's too late!
This week, we are finalizing all host family assignments so, for all of you wringing your hands waiting for your host family's information, the wait is very nearly over! You will receive all the information no later than July 5th (next Monday)!
As always, if any questions come up concerning Adopteen Camp-Conference 2010 as July 29th draws nearer, please do not hesitate to email us! You can also email us about your feelings pertaining to Toy Story 3, why Pixar hasn't made a Finding Nemo 2 but has made a Shrek 4, or who you think is going to win the World Cup this year - but nothing else.
Love,
us.

I hope everyone had an amazing celebration of Independence Day! Ours here in Colorado was, unfortunately, quite wet and unsuccessful fireworks-wise. Food-wise, though, it was delicioius, which is a win in my book.
As you probably already know if you are an avid reader of our enthralling news updates here on the .org, registration for the 2010 Adopteen Camp-Conference is now officially over and thank you very much for registering! We are only about 3 1/2 weeks away from our extravaganza -- 25 days if you were really wondering -- and the list of campers this year is delightfully long! Which, you know, is rad.
So find a calendar and start counting down the days like we are and we will see all your beautiful faces SO soon!
Additionally, Amy will be a bit unreachable from now until July 16th, so if you have any questions or concerns or just want to email someone for funzies, feel free to email Art at art@chinaadopteen.org. He can barely contain his excitement in anticipation of your ponderings!
Sincerely Yours,
A&A

Hello! Apologies for the long silent treatment.
Just wanted to let you all know that the finalized program schedule for the 2010 Adopteen Camp-Conference is up. We only made a couple changes to the previous one, but you can take a look at it so that everyone is on the same page. Again, this is the final final schedule. No surprise changes. With only one week left until the Conference bells start jing-jingling, everything is nicely planned, wrapped up and tied in a bow, patiently waiting for you teens to rush in and tear them apart. (a little too far with the metaphor? maybe.) A suggested packing list is up for your viewing pleasure as well, just in case you are having trouble deciding whether or not to bring along your ski jacket and roller skates.
Not much other news to report other than the fact that everything about this year's Adopteen Camp-Conference is amazing.
Also, Amy is back after her two weeks off-grid. Art did a winning job as ship captain, obviously.
All campers should have received an email today with a detailed program schedule -- commentary and all! -- as well as the suggested packing list. If you did not, please let us know by calling us (303.850.9998 x47) or emailing us!
Only one week left! We are so very excited.

Third, we are happy to announce that we will be keeping up a new blog on wordpress.com where we will be typing up nice, short little updates on the events of this year's Camp-Conference every day! Oh, you want a link? Here you go: redthreadadopteens.wordpress.com :)
We will see you all very very soon!

Friends! Family! Hello!
One more Adopteen Camp-Conference has now passed. Three years have gone by so quickly and everyone is always so good at making us feel ancient.
The 3rd Annual Adopteen Camp-Conference brought with it 62 teens from 10 states and 14 provinces. Four days passed by like one big party with campers old and new making this year our personal favorite.
HUGE thanks and love must go out to all of the incredibly hospitable host families and volunteers who helped us keep this year's conference running so smoothly! We could not have possibly done any of this without your unbelievable kindness and fantastic cooking skills. Seriously.
We also want to thank the 2010 AdopTeen Committee, who brought to life all the lovely decorations, discussions, and (d)activities of this weekend. Without our eight lovely committee members, the past four days would have just been Art and I lecturing and talking and forcing all of our notoriously incredible dance moves upon you. Setting up every day before the conference and cleaning up afterwards, keeping 62 teenagers entertained, and dealing with the tyranny that is Art and Amy...could there be any better job? They are our family and we cannot thank them enough.
Finally, and most importantly, we want to thank all of the 62 adopteens who came out this year to hang out with us!!! You were all so incredible and inspiring and, without you, Art and I would not be able to have such an amazing time every summer. We give our best efforts and dig deep to make every conference an event to remember and will keep doing so as long as you all want us. It gets slow sometimes and you all make it so worth it, without question. So, from the front, center, back, bottom, middle, and top of our hearts, thank you all, new and old, SO SO much. There are no words.
It is quite late, so please accept our apologies for the lackluster vocabulary. Thank you all for your undying support and enthusiasm every year. This post reads like a broken record, but we cannot tell you enough.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. We are humbled.
Stay safe, stay hydrated, remember your locker combinations.
Love,
Amy&Art

As many of you have already heard, next year's Adopteen Camp-Conference is heading off to Virginia Beach, VA. Apologies to any whom may have experienced some sort of whiplash from the news. We are aiming for a nice change of scenery as well as a whole bunch of new teens to hang out with. Though we may lose some of our veteran campers (not all of you, I hope!), we want as many adopteens to have fun and hang out with us as possible and Virginia is just one stop for this non-stop-party bus. So, the warmest thank you must be given to Jenny Lindstrom, our incredible Virginian volunteer who has been helping us plan every tiny detail of next year's conference.
A new development that we are very excited to announce is the possibility of holding an "intermission", short-version Adopteen Camp-Conference in Mississippi later this year. The details are still in their baby stages, but we will keep you all up-to-date with the developments as we start putting feelers out.
If you have not yet visited our new blog at redthreadadopteens.wordpress.com , please do! It is a place of open blogging of pictures, videos, and words pertaining to anything and everything Adopteen. Anyone is welcome to post on the blog. If you would like the username and password for access, simply email Amy or Art.
Many of you have been asking about the Adopteen Camp-Conference Slideshow. We have been sifting through thousands of photos (literally, 4,168 photos) from this past weekend and will try our best to post up the annual Adopteen Slideshow within two weeks. Please do not be mad if it turns out to be a bit later than that. You all are just so photogenic.
Additionally, if you want to print out more copies of the photobooths pictures, they are posted on www.coloradophotobooth.com/adopteen , available for free downloads and printing. Enjoy! :)
As always, we will try our best to keep this .org up-to-date.
xx,
Amy (and Art)

Short, but very very sweet, update!
First off, as you all have probably noticed, the 2010 Adopteen Camp-Conference slideshow is still not up. That's Amy's fault so feel free to blame her. However, the pictures that are being used in the slideshow have been up since the end of the camp-conference, so if you haven't yet seen them, click this and, badabang!, a thousand pictures for your viewing pleasure! :)
Secondly, get your calendars out because...WE HAVE OFFICIAL DATES for our 4th Annual Adopteen Camp-Conference in Virginia, as well as for our Adopteen Midpoint Camp-Conference in Mississippi (That's right, it's happening.)!
The 4th Annual Adopteen Camp-Conference in Virginia is set for JULY 18th - 22nd, 2011.
The Adopteen Midpoint in Mississippi is set for JANUARY 15th - 17th, 2011.
See? Short, but very very sweet.
Cheers,
Amy & Art

ANNOUNCING
2011 MID-POINT MISSISSIPPI CAMP & CONFERENCE
When: January 15 – 17, 2011 (Saturday - Monday. Martin Luther King weekend)
Where: Tupelo, Mississippi
That's right, friends! Registration is now OPEN for the 2011 Mid-Point Mississippi Adopteen Camp-Conference!!!
If you're reading this and confusion is threatening to rear it's ugly head, take a deep breath and read on. We know it's been a long time.
As we announced way back in August (see below), 2011 is bringing with it not one, but TWO Adopteen Camp-Conferences. After months of meetings and phone calls and emails, the first of these two camp-conferences is now open for business! Our handsome event coordinators, Eli Davis and Daniel Clark, along with their lovely parents, have worked extremely hard to make sure that the winter weekend will be jam-packed with epic epic-ness. Oh, it's that good.
Mid-Point Mississippi is not your regular, summer Adopteen Camp-Conference. It will be quick and messy fun. Only two and a half days in length, we've revamped the camp-conference's program to make sure the winning points of Adopteen are emphasized so that expression, inspiration, and friendship might be achieved. It sounds cliché, but we promise a ridiculously good time.
Again, this is not that full-fledged Adopteen Camp-Conference we hold every summer. News about the July 18-22, 2011 Adopteen Camp-Conference in Virginia is coming soon!
We've been planning up a storm and can't wait for you all to join us in January! So stop reading and GO REGISTER!
Much Love,
Art & Amy

Auld Lang Syne...!
Hello hello! I hope everyone is celebrating a fantastic holiday season...mostly because I don't want to feel guilty for having so much fun. Kidding. Happy Holidays!!!
In addition to singing carols to you all in cyberspace, I wanted to take this update to remind you one last time that the deadline for registration for Midpoint in MS Adopteen Camp-Conference is gaining on us fast. There is only one more week to register for the three-day-weekend-of-awesomeness! So if you were planning on attending this one, please head on over to the registration page before it's too late!
We are SO excited to hang out with all of you. That is all I am going to say.
May old aquaintances not be forgot.
xx
