My name is Leah Johnson. I am 17 years old and this will be my 2nd time at
the conference. This conference was a life changing experience for me. Never in my life have I ever been able to spend time with people like me, kids who have been
adopted and understand and know the kinds of the things that I have gone through. At this conference, nobody cared what your background was or what you looked like because none of that mattered. For once, I felt normal and didn't have to hide who I was. This conference is so much fun. This conference is a place where you can
go and connect with other teens like yourself, and end up with long-lasting friendships
while having so much fun doing it. Once the conference is over you'll be thinking you can't wait for the next one to come. Plus, now that we have Facebook and Myspace and cell phones, it is a lot easier to stay in touch with everyone you became friends with.

ZOE BERLING- ME!!
I am a 9th grade Colorado Academy student. I have lived in America since I was 4 months old. So, I have lived with my parents for 15 years. Sometimes they are very annoying (most of the time). I come from the Hunan province. I enjoy swimming, climbing trees, running, reading and drawing. I love learning languages, and I hope to learn a whole lot of them. At the moment, I am taking three languages other than English. Here is a list, just in case you were interested. The three I am taking are first, and the ones I want to take are organized as highest priority to lowest interest. The languages are; Spanish, French, Japanese, Chinese, German, Latin , Swedish, Italian and Swahili. Hopefully I will be able to accomplish these goals! I also play the piano, but I do not practice the piano on a regular basis. Apparently I have a spunky personality. Also; I am American and I am not religious in the slightest. I am not very photogenic… it’s quite unfortunate.

Hi my name is Sam and I am 19 years old.
I am adopted from China and have been living in America for about 12 years now. I love it here. I have a big family with 4 sisters
who I love. I would like to visit China again just for fun. I love sports, hanging out with friends, and with my sisters too. I love meeting new people and getting to know them more. I love to travel and visit new places, I haven’t been anywhere lately but that’s what I love to do, and camping is always fun for me too.
At this year's Adopteen conference for this summer, I am looking forward to getting to meet new teens and I am looking forward to seeing all the other teens that came last year. I am also looking forward to hanging out with the ones I met last year. I am excited that we are going to learn some stuff about China too. I don’t know exactly what we will be doing, but it will be a lot of fun because we will have a lot of time to meet and to talk to eachother. |

Hey everyone I'm Kate Cruz. I'm 15 years old and was adopted from China from Kunming when I was 5 months old. This will be my 2nd year at the Red Thread conference and
I will be one of the Teen Committee members on the panel. I am an alumni member of
the Colorado Children's Chorale (a professional singing group), a member of the Chatfield Senior High swim team at my school, and a rugby player for SWARM rugby girls. I am also hoping to play water polo, a sport we started at our school. Oh and also snowboarding! I love to travel and hang out with friends. We always have fun in the smallest ways haha.
Last year's Red Thread Conference changed my life. I loved meeting new people who have experienced the same things as I have, and have gone through the at times bumpy journey of being Asian. Being at this conference made me change my outlook on people, and helped me realize that everyone is going through a hard battle. Everyone can relate here and it doesn't matter what your background is. The conference was extremely
fun! I loved meeting new people and having fun until my eyes were filled with tears. I have kept in touch with a lot of the kids and we still hang out as much as possible. I learned a lot about my culture and would love to go back to China to visit. This year's conference will totally rock! I really hope to see new faces and have another amazing year at this conference!! You better be there or be square!! = )

This is Amy. You'll like her. ;)
Currently a Biology Pre-Med major at Seattle University, Amy spends her time constantly learning new and inspiring things in biology and chemistry courses. Sometimes, when she’s feeling extra dangerous, she also sleeps. Though biology and chemistry excite her to an unparalleled degree, her true passions are rock climbing, film, reading, writing, swinging, playing Super Smash Bros., Mariokart and Rock Band (she’ll take you on any day), eating, friends (please note that eating and friends are separated by a comma), family, romantic evenings on the beach riding on the back of a great white stallion…
The last one was a joke, though that does sounds quite nice...
Amy cannot express her anticipation of this year’s Red Thread Adopteen Conference. She is extremely excited to meet all of you this July. Because where are you going to be this July? You’re going to be having the time of your life at the Red Thread
Chinese Adopteen Camp-Conference. Like you even had to ask...

Nimen hao! Before she started working as a translator for CCAI, Sarah Harmon taught English to little kids while living in northeast China. She loves all things Chinese and misses real Chinese dumplings the most! A real xenophile (yeah, look that one up), she loves to learn about other cultures and is currently studying Polynesian dance. Sarah lives with her husband and two spoiled rotten bulldogs, one of whom she brings to volunteer as a therapy dog visiting patients at a local hospital. She loves hockey, especially the Colorado Avalanche, and enjoys reading, watching movies, and eating weird food. She can’t wait to meet you this summer!

Sheri works at CCAI in the Travel Department and thoroughly enjoys helping people travel to China to complete their adoptions! In addition to visiting China, Sheri has also lived in Kenya, East Africa. In her spare time, Sheri loves spending time with her husband, cooking African food, running, singing, and working with a non-profit organization in Central Africa. Sheri is totally excited to meet you this summer and believes it will be a blast to spend time together and build relationships!
