2010 Red Thread AdopTeen Committee
Zoe

HI! I'm Zoe Berling. I am currently sixteen years old, and have attended all of the Adopteen Conferences, albeit there have only been two. They have been loads of fun, and it's great to meet all the new people. Though I am good friends with the original few conference members - you know who you are *glomps - I enjoy making new friends. I love Harry Potter - for example: I have made it so that Harry Potter automatically changes to "The Boy Who Lived" when I type it into my computer. I'm such a nerd, please don't judge me... ha. In return, I won't judge you if you love the Twilight series/movies. TRADE OFF!!! Tree climbing, swimming, reading, writing, painting... the list of things I love goes on and on. However, the list of things that I actually excel at might by considerably shorter - example: math. How I shudder at the word. MLIA fan? Well, we might just become best friends. Looking forward to the next conference!
XOXO- Zoe

Ann

Hey everyone, I'm Ann Boccuti. I'm 16 years old and this is my third time returning to the conference. I live in Lansdale, PA and I was adopted from the Jiangxi Province at 17 months. I like art and music, and I also do Taekwondo. When I first came to the Red Thread Adopteen Conference, I was invited through a group I was already a part of called C.A.L. I've traveled as an ambasador for C.A.L. both within the U.S. and Europe. The last two conferences were so fun because everybody had such a great attitude and it was such a friendly atmosphere. I'm really looking forward to coming back and meeting even more fun people!

Daniel

My name is Daniel Clark and my birthday was recorded on the D.O.B. as October 28, 1992. I was adopted in June 1994 from Kunming, China and was the first boy adopted through CCAI. Ten years later, my mom had adopted my little sister, Kristin (now 12) and then my younger brother, Seth (now 8). In 2007, I attended the first cultural camp sponsored by the CCAA in Beijing, China. I am now 17, a junior in high school and loving every minute of it. I hope to pursue a career in the field of medicine. I believe that I am a unique person but my interests are that of any teenage boy. To name just a few; music, art, tennis, writing, literature, history, DDR, candy... the list could goes on. My hobbies include sketching and photography. I like to think I have an open mind. I have lived in Mississippi all of my life and it's been a fun place to grow up. I have only attended the Adopteen Conference once (2009), and I really enjoyed it. It was a great experience meeting new people and learning things about the Chinese culture. I heard about the Adopteen Conference through my childhood friend, Eli Davis. He was adopted shortly after I was and we have been like bickering brothers ever since we met. The Adopteen Conference is an experience every adopted teen should experience. It helps you understand the past, embrace the present, and make preparations for a great future. I hope to see you there!

Kate

Hey my name is Kate Cruz. I am 16 years old and attend Chatfield Senior High in Littleton, Colorado. This will be my 3rd year attending the conference, and my 2nd time on the Teen Committee. I was born in Kunming, China and adopted when I was 5 months old. I have a little sister who is also adopted from China and a step brother who is currently a police man. I plan on going back to visit China my senior year with my family. I am on the swim team at my school in the winter, play girl's rugby in the summer, snowboard, and I'm in the girl's advanced choir at my school. I am also an alum of the Colorado Children's Chorale. The conference has been one of the best experiences of my life. I have met many people who I have stayed good friends with, and we still continue to hang out and stay in touch. All of us have this connection there which allows us to understand each other. All of us are here to have fun and learn a bit about our culture. I love meeting new people and hope to make everyone feel welcome here. This year's conference is going to be a lot of fun, and I can't wait! Hope to see new and old faces there!! :)

Eli

Hey, what up all you pretty people? I'm Eli Davis, I'm 16 and live in Tupelo, MS.

Soooo it's about that time of year again...and let me just say, I'm soo amped for it 'cause this year will be the best ever!!!!!!!!!!
You know what they say, third time's the charm. I'm looking forward to meeting all the new peeps, and reconnecting with the old. This will be my third year coming back to the conference, and
my second as your ever-loving Team Committee member (Black Squad all the way...)

Anyways, I guess what I'm saying is...I'll be there. The question is, will you!?

Eli <--- elephant.

Taylor

My name is Taylor Deck, and I'm 14 years old. I'm a ninth grader at Rock Canyon High School, and this will be my 2nd time attending the Adopteen Conference. The Conference is a great way to meet teens who have had a lot of the same experiences as you. Also, you have the opportunity to talk about things you don't necessarily talk about around your peers at school. I had such a great time last year, and hopefully this year will be just as great, if not better!
So, a little more about me...
I was adopted at 8 months old from the Anhui province. I now live in Highlands Ranch, CO with my mom, and 3 sisters, also adopted from China. Some of my hobbies are dancing, writing, and reading. I also love learning new languages, even if it's only a couple words. Currently, I'm taking 2 languages at my school - French and Mandarin. I hope to learn Spanish and Italian my junior or senior year of high school. I intend to use these languages to help me become an international translator, or work for the UN. I'm also very musical and have been playing music since I was in 3rd grade. I've played the viola, oboe, flute, and am currently playing handbells at my church and taking piano lessons. I'm an extremely busy teen...

Hopefully I'll be seeing you at the conference this year-2010!

This is my first year on the Teen Committee and I'm very excited.

Amy

Co-Director

This is Amy.  You'll hopefully like her. :)

Amy spends her time constantly learning new and inspiring things in biology and chemistry courses at Seattle University, where she is majoring in Biology pre-Med and minoring in Film Studies. Sometimes, when she's feeling extra dangerous, she also sleeps. Though biology and chemistry excite her to an unparalleled degree, her true passions are music-ing, film-ing, reading, writing, rock climbing, eating, eating, rock climbing, writing, reading, film-ing, and music-ing. Friends and family are most important to her, just barely above TV.

Totally kidding. Family and friends are much more important than TV, kids.

(This lesson was brought to you by the letter T and the number 5)
